What is an MQM Score?

MQM (Multidimensional Quality Metrics) is the professional translation industry standard for measuring translation quality. Think of it like golf — lower scores are better. The score represents the number of errors per 1,000 words, assessed by an independent AI judge that reads both the source English and the translated text, flagging issues across accuracy, fluency, terminology, and style.

Every edition must clear our publication gate before it ships. Editions that don't clear it go through additional correction passes. If they still don't clear it, they get a publisher's note — we don't quietly ship a substandard edition and hope nobody notices.

These eight editions score between 5.0 and 15.0 — above our clean threshold but within the professionally accepted "publish with note" range. Each edition includes a publisher's note acknowledging the quality band and inviting reader feedback.

What does "Publish with Publisher's Note" mean? The translation is accurate and readable — this is not a warning label. MQM 5–15 is within the range that professional translation agencies routinely deliver for technical content. The publisher's note reflects our commitment to transparency, not a defect in the edition.
